Major winner!!

Since launching this website and reminiscing about all the different burgers that I have managed to consume and review, I have been eager to get back and review the one that started it all….. Tuck Shop Take Away in Caulfield. The first review on this burger journey was short and sharp, and now that I have tried so many others, I was looking forward to seeing if the burger tasted as good as I remembered.

This place has such a good reputation and as expected there was a queue, with no seats left to eat in. The menu choice was simple – the “minor burger” or the “major burger” and of course I went the Major Burger! Which comes with double beef patties, double American cheese, lettuce, tomato onion, pickles and tuck shop sauce, then I added an egg and bacon too! From memory, the Major burger used to only be one patty, and I was glad to see that it had upsized itself!

I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this burger. I found it hard to get my mouth around it for the first bite because the meat patties are packed so tight, but once I started and got my rhythm I enjoyed every bite of it. The meat was cooked to perfection and tasted soooooo good! It has a spicy, but not overpowering taste to it, which is then complimented perfectly by the tangy special sauce. Everything else works perfectly too, and the brioche bun is one of the best going around.

Getting take away and having to eat in the car was not ideal and unfortunately, it was not “made with love” either, which made it quite a sloppy affair! But you could not argue with the amazing taste. Now rightfully placed as only the third “contender”, this is definitely a burger place that you need to add to your bucket list.

How good is Tuck Shop?

  1. Looks like it would be hard to eat – not very well presented – reminds me of a McDonalds Big Mac without the middle bun !

    1. I know what you mean “G” – much tastier than a Big Mac though!! You should get down there and find out for yourself!!
