Right place, right time!

I was driving through St Kilda recently on another beautiful, sunny Melbourne day, and given it was the middle of the afternoon and I hadn’t eaten lunch, I was absolutely starving. I was driving along wondering where I was going to grab a quick bite to eat, and then it appeared…… I looked at my watch and saw that it was just after 3pm. The “St Kilda Burger Bar” opens at 3pm!? What a coincidence!! How could I resist? I have been dying to try this place out and finally, I was in the right place at the right time.

This is a drive thru burger bar attached to the bottle shop at the Grosvenor Hotel, so I parked and walked up to order. There are a few burgers to choose from on the menu, and I decided to go with their signature burger, “The Grosvenor” which comes with patty, bacon, shed sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, plus I added an egg for good measure!

Finally it arrived, and after unwrapping the tight, paper wrapping, I found a good sized, well constructed burger, with plenty of runny egg oozing out of it too! This was a very solid burger. The patty was good and the ratio of the other ingredients were spot on. The mix of flavours worked really well together, especially the bacon, pickle, special shed sauce and the egg. I love egg in a burger and this runny delight was no exception!!

Chips on the side were ok and reminded me of the bucket of chips you get from the food van outside the footy sometimes!! And I decided to enjoy this feast with an ice cold beer, and this time, I went for Mountain Goat Pale Ale, which made the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable.

Overall, this was a good burger and definitely worth trying for yourself. I will be back to give the “Plugger” a go too!!
